The Magic of Animals in Artwork

At the studio this week, we got into this big conversation about the magic of animal art; how it can tell a story or capture a feeling-- sometimes better than any other subject can.  Let's take a minute look at the art below, for example!

Oh, the colors in this one!  These bunnies are  wonderful reflection of the never-ending and delightful busyness of the Spring Season.

This beautifully blue repeat from Allison has the remarkable ability to both capture the apparent calmness of the sea as well as the abundant life teeming within it.

Our bet is that you love this work as much as we do. Let us know if you would like to see even more! Kindly, Jennifer, Cathy, Haley and Kristi

Praise for the Modern Pastel!

There was a time, long ago, probably before some of you were even born, when pastel colors were all the rage. These pastels were sweet, possibly a bit shy, and a little lackluster.

But pastels are back and they've had quite a makeover! Confident, eye-catching, and rich in depth and style. These aren't your mother's pastels! Just take a look and you'll see what we mean!

Our bet is that you love this work as much as we do. Let us know if you would like to see even more! Kindly, Jennifer, Cathy, Haley and Kristi

We're cooking up something good!

Sometimes, we get a piece of art from an artist and it instantly evokes a response. Especially when it's a piece with gorgeous food or an inviting kitchen. We feel what it must be like to eat those desserts, treats, and dishes; the textures and flavors. It reminds us why we love art so much. Art can transport you. Enough of us telling you about it--let us show you! Just look at these images below and try not to let your imagination wander. Good luck!

NEW ARTIST ALERT!

We are here to help jumpstart your spring joy by introducing the newest member of our team, Joanna Clay!!  Joanna hails from Oxford, England, where the history, architecture, and natural landscape inspire much of her work. After all, there is no better way to beat the winter doldrums than falling in love with a new artist.  So, if grey skies and enduring sweater weather have got you down, we’ve got just the thing.

Did someone say bright, bold colors?  Oh right, it was us!!  Look at these vibrant reds, pink and yellows off-set by those cool greens and blues!  We swoon!

Of course, a top question on many clients’ minds when meeting a new, fabulous artist like Joanna would be, “Does she have lettering?”  Why, yes, she does!!  And it’s absolutely lovely!  Also, don’t you adore the little details like those sweet, dotted mushrooms in this piece?

This whisper-quiet, pleasingly pastel pieces blew us away when we saw it. Talk about versatile!

And then she goes and brings together the soft pastels with the bold colors to creates something absolutely, delightfully new!!  The cats stand out so beautifully.

If you’d like to see more of Joanna’s incredible work, just reach out!  Or if you’re dreaming of a very particular piece in one of Joanna’s many styles, she is available for commissions, too.

Puzzling words, perfect patterns!

Howdy friends! One thing you may not know about is that we love art. Ha ha! Just kidding--of course, you know that about us! BUT, did you know that we also love puzzles?

We knew we wanted to get some of our favorite and newest repeats in front of you and it made us start thinking about patterns. Patterns can be found everywhere and patterns are often clues which reminded us of puzzles. One of the coolest puzzles to solve using knowledge of patterns is the cryptogram. So, today's blog contains a very special, secret message.

See if you can use your knowledge of patterns to decipher this famous quote about art:

"RFC LRWZKW RLRA MFIN CZK WIEY CZK OEWC IM KPKFAORA YDMK." - JRHYI JDVRWWI

Perhaps you can solve this particular puzzle with Janna's notebook for Peter Pauper Press!

Our bet is that you love this work as much as we do. Let us know if you would like to see even more! Kindly, Jennifer, Cathy, Haley and Kristi

Dive into Anna Ivanir's world!

Oh, how I would love to live in the vibrant and inviting world that Anna Ivanir captures in her paintings! The palette, the beautiful and diverse people, the lush florals, and scrumptious foods, transport me to a joyful and wondrous place. Like all our artists, Anna is constantly creating new, gorgeous work available for art licensing or purchase! We are so proud to represent her at Jennifer Nelson Artists!!

Anna Ivanir

I would love to sit at one of Anna's tables! The vibrant colors in this trio are so inviting. Even with something as simple as food and hands, I feel transported into her painting.

Anna Ivanir

Just a little reminder that Mother's Day is May 8--which is coming up sooner than you think! This is such a sweet group of mothers with their kids.

Anna Ivanir

Trying to pick out one floral from all her fabulous botanicals was a challenge. I decided on this one because of her use of red, blue, yellow, and white in one flower! I love these intense, saturated brush strokes.

Anna Ivanir

This gorgeous group of ladies is one of Anna's specialties. She is so good at capturing the variety and beauty of all different kinds of people. I especially love this piece because it is bursting with details!

Anna Ivanir hard at work!

I bet you just love Anna's work as much as I do. Let us know if you would like to see even more!
